E-Petition Bill C-27
E-Petition sponsored by the Federal NDP, MP Linda Duncan, representing Edmonton Strathcona, Alberta. We need to spread the word on this one as it has far reaching implications on many other pensions aside from CP and CN.
The Trudeau government is trying to do what the Harper government attempted in Parliament 4 years ago and failed at then. With this proposed Bill (Bill C-27 An Act to Amend the Pension Benefits Standards Act) they are trying to eliminate Direct Benefit pension plan to which ours is along with other changes that have negative implications on labour as a whole. With the proposed changes this would allow the employer to cut contributions to the plan and this could effect both those currently on a pension and future pensioners.
Again we ask that you review and sign the following E-Petition and make your voice heard that this is an unacceptable challenge on Canadian pensions for those currently receiving a Defined Benefit plan or paying into such plan for access in the future. Your assistance on furthering this request to individuals will also be appreciated to ensure this does not come to pass.
For further information on the Bill you can enquire on such at the Parliament of Canada website (http://www.parl.gc.ca/LegisInfo/BillDetails.aspx?Language=E&Mode=1&billId=8502232).
